Seras_no_Mizuk: Harry Potter - Slalazar/ Harry
To Seras_no_Mizuk- I tried to make this more romantic but this bunny just would NOT let me go. If it's not what you want I can do another or just tack on another part. Completely up to you!
Gossip Makes the World Go Round
Gossip was universal. From the largest of beasts the smallest of creatures, gossip it seemed was what got many people through the day, whether that gossip was even true or not. A good story could get passed on for days, each time becoming warped in the telling but retaining enough grains of truth to make those who were the source of the rumor lament that they had ever become the focal point of the daily topic.
It was gossip that brought the rather well dressed if archaic dressed man to the quiet suburbia in the middle of a sweltering midsummer day. Green eyes scanned the nearly identical houses with their identical landscapes with a bit of dismay. The only differences he could see were the large colorful shapes that sat on the wide black paths up to the said similar houses. “You sure that this is the place?” he asked his traveling companion as he eyed the small group of children walking on the opposite side of the street. “I don’t see anyone that matched your description.”
“I got the address from a bird of all things,” his unseen friend replied sourly. “How should I know if this is the right place?”
{C}
The man sighed and looked back at the identical houses that lined the street, ignoring the whispers of the children that were whispering and pointing at him. “Gossip will never grow old,” the man snickered to himself as he heaved his large bag and headed down the road, traveling further into the large cluster of houses. “How do people live like this?” he muttered in disgust as he traveled.
{C}
“How do you humans do anything?” his companion retorted. “Give me a good tree any day.”
{C}
The man chuckled when he suddenly reached a turnoff down yet another small road leading nowhere. The man froze and his head whipped about to look down the road at the many houses that lined it. Once again, they all looked the same but one had a small difference. For those who knew how to look, there was a small shimmer surrounding the property, warding out those who were not welcome. Magic.
{C}
With a smirk the man turned down the road, a new spring in his step the man instantly made his way towards the house, ignoring the complaints coming from his large satchel. “What are you doing out there?” his companion complained. “I’m getting ill in here.”
{C}
“Stop whining,” the man laughed. “We’re here.”
{C}
“’Bout bloody time.”

Harry James Potter was startled out of his reading by the sound of knocking at the front door. Cringing, Harry wondered if his uncle expected him to answer the door when he heard the thump of the larger man getting up and heading for the stairs. Harry felt sorry for whoever it was at the door as he leaned back against his headboard, his defense book propped up on his knees. His uncle was in a sour mood and even with the threat of the Order he had forgotten himself and had thumped the back of Harry’s head a time or two.
{C}
This was one of the hottest summers in a long time and the air conditioner had been set so high up for the past few weeks that the thing finally gave out. His uncle Vernon however found it prudent to argue with the repairman over the exuberant price and had gone through three more before the gossip got around to the other repair centers and no one was willing to come out to number four private drive. Harry had gone to remaining in his room, only emerging to prepare the meals for the family and use the washroom. Luckily, his aunt and cousin pretty much left him alone, Petunia only speaking at him to give him his chore list before they left for the day.
{C}
It was quite fine with Harry however as he was pouring over all his defense books and a few that he had snitched from Grimmauld place. The answer had to be in the pages somewhere. There had to be something that no one had thought of to finally get rid of Voldemort once and for all. There was no way that Harry was going to let Sirius’ death be in vain.
{C}
It was then that the sound of an explosion resonated throughout the house and Harry jumped up and snatched his wand from under his pillow his heart thumping within his chest. Running to the window he quickly opened the sash and undid the latch on Hedwig’s cage. “Go to Dumbledore,” Harry ordered quickly, his eyes never leaving the door to Dudley’s second bedroom.
{C}
The white owl hooted once before soaring out the window and hopefully to Hogwarts and the school’s headmaster. With his friend gone, Harry quickly moved to the door and slowly opened it a crack, listening to the shouting below. One voice clearly his uncle’s and that had Harry momentarily puzzled. Why would Death Eaters let his uncle remain conscious let alone still alive? It was then that Harry actually started listening to the words.
{C}
“You dare abuse one of my own for your own selfishness?” a voice Harry had never heard before roared.
{C}
“What selfishness?” Vernon bellowed. “We’ve taken care of the brat at our own expense! We’ve been nothing but tolerable of the brat!”
{C}
“Liar!” the unknown voice roared back, his voice filling the house with his fury. “You used him as a bloody house elf and locked him in a cupboard! And all the while his life is in mortal danger every time he so much as sticks his head out the door. Did you honestly think no one would find out about it? That I wouldn’t find out about it?”
{C}
“Who are you anyway?” Vernon shouted back. “Your lot know that the headmaster of the ruddy school sent him here, what else am I suppose to do with the boy?”
{C}
“‘Ruddy school’?” the voice went deep and Harry felt a shudder go up his spine at the anger behind the tone. “Is that what you call my school?”
{C}
Harry frowned at that and slowly crept out of his room and to the landing, glancing down the stairs at the two figures below. The man was someone Harry had never seen before, in a white cotton shirt and brown breeches tucked into knee high traveling boots with a dusty, plain green over robes. He had to be somewhere in his mid thirties but then again, age could be difficult to gauge when it came to wizards. Currently however Harry was staring at the wand that the man was pointing at his uncle.
{C}
With a shout a yellow light erupted from the man’s wand and Harry watched stunned as his uncle fell back onto the floor with a thud. “You bloody sod,” the man muttered as he put his wand away. It was then that bright emerald eyes suddenly caught Harry’s gaze as the man looked up with a smile. Harry took a quick step back as the man stepped around the unconscious Dursley and started making his way up the stairs, his hands held up as if to show no threat. “Harry Potter I presume,” the man grinned, heedless of the wand Harry had instantly raised at the man’s approach. “I’m not your enemy. I’m here to pick you up and take you away from this place.”
{C}
Harry frowned as he eyed the man from top to bottom. “Who are you?”
{C}
The man grinned broadly as he held out one hand in offer for a shake. “You’ve probably heard of me but we have never met. My name is Salazar Slytherin.”
{C}
Harry’s head whipped up in shock, his eyes widening in disbelief. “I don’t believe you!”
{C}
The man chuckled but it was the addition of a third voice that got Harry out of his stunned stupor and tensing up again. “Believe it kid,” the voice hissed and Harry brought up his wand arm even higher as he looked about for the source.
{C}
“Who’s there?” Harry called out.
The man claiming to be Salazar laughed as he set his bag down and opened the top. Harry gasped as a diamond shaped head poked out of the bag and black eyes stared up at the human. “Hello again,” the snake laughed as he gave the boy a nod. “Hello again, little serpent. It’s good to see you again.”
{C}
It was only due to his very quick reflexes that Salazar managed to catch the fainting boy before he landed heavily on the floor. The wizard looked down at the snake with a small, sheepish look. “I get this all the time.”
{C}
“Whatever,” the snake chuckled as it curled back up in the bag. “Wake me when he does.”
{C}
Salazar snickered as he quickly shrank and summoned everything that bore Harry’s magical signature and had it secured in the sack alongside the large snake. Heaving the bag and boy into his arms, he winked out of sight soundlessly, making the wards surrounding the house stretch before finally popping and startling an elderly wizard miles away in his office as sirens blared in his alarm. Harry Potter was gone.
